Mildred Mitsuko Morimoto, 93, of Kailua-Kona died Sept. 3 at Nilda’s Care Home. Born in Kealakekua, she was a laundry technician for Shiraki Dry Cleaners, secretary for General Appliance and Furniture and the Gas Company, and member of Hanei Kumi and Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Charles Norio Oba, 85, of Hilo died Nov. 19 at Hilo Medical Center. Corliss Naomi Yamaki, 79, of Hiloi died Dec. 9 at home. She was a graduate of Hilo High School, the University of Michigan and the University of Ohio at Athens, member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Buddhist Women’s Association, Hawaii State Teachers Association Retirees, Michigan Alumni Association, longtime editor of the Buddhist Wheel newsletter and finalist at the 2022 State of Hawaii Senior Spelling Bee.
